About the Trade Quarter
The Trade Quarter serves as the economic engine of the Kingdom of New Rivers, organized into two primary districts:
The Bazaar in the Common Yard and The Market in the Halls of the Court. These districts support distinct forms of trade: local, informal exchange in the Bazaar, and refined, high-value commerce in the Market.
The Bazaar in the Common Yard
The Bazaar is a bustling, vibrant space for everyday trade. It embraces informal trade and community-driven commerce, alive with color and connection. It emphasizes low-barrier, grassroots commerce and essential services.
- Common Goods: Affordable, everyday essentials — tools, garments, produce, household items, and practical wares.
- Barter Square: A non-monetary trade sector powered by mutual aid, timebanking, and skill-swapping networks.
- Street Stalls: Rotating booths for hobbyists, makers, and nomadic traders to share, sell, or gift their creations.
- Co-op Commons: Shared spaces operated by informal collectives, rotating vendor groups, or small local co-ops.
The Market in the Halls of the Court
The Market is a refined commercial forum featuring only the highest quality goods, services, and licensed vendors, representing the Kingdom’s highest commercial standards. It is where master artisans, established merchants, and officially recognized guilds showcase excellence and negotiate formal trade.
- Artisan Hall: Commission-based craftwork and masterworks from recognized artisans in wood, stone, textile, and metal.
- Merchant Court: Boutique vendors and specialty importers offering luxury goods, curated wares, and rare materials.
- Guild Offices: Headquarters for registered guilds managing apprenticeships, trade ethics, certifications, and dispute mediation.
- Enterprise Vault: Incorporated ventures, research labs, tech startups, and formal economic initiatives with long-term missions.
